![]() Our training and work placement program, called supported employment, is funded by state and federal agencies. Supported employment provides work functions and job training tailored to the individual worker, benefiting both the participant and the employer. The program encourages people to work within their communities, fostering work and social integration.
King County Developmental Disabilities Division (KCDDD): King County Developmental Disabilities Division is contracted through the Division of Developmental Disabilities which is a branch of the Department of Social and Health Services. KCDDD provides a variety of day program services that are individualized and community based. Programs that are focused in maintaining employment include individual, group and specialized industry employment settings. Eligibility requirements will be outlined by the KCDDD Case Managers. Washington Initiative for Supported Employment (WISE): The Washington Initiative for Supported Employment is a private non-profit organization dedicated to expanding and sustaining employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Their work is primarily educational: they consult with social service providers and with counties, school districts, and private businesses, providing training and support who are interested to create or improve supported employment opportunities in their communities. The Arc: The Arc (formerly Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States) is the country's largest voluntary organization committed to the welfare of all children and adults with mental retardation and their families. The Arc is a 501( c) (3) charitable non-profit organization supported by contributions from the general public. The Arc, with its rich history in advocacy and services, is comprised of individuals with mental retardation, family members, professionals in the field of disability and other concerned citizens. The Arc has adopted various positions on issues that affect people with mental retardation and their families, and the organization's mission statement forms the basis for the organization's activities. Job Accommodation Network: The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is an international toll-free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities.
